Sustainability at L&R
As part of our commitment to driving sustainability in the UK we continue to look at ways we can reduce our carbon footprint and positively impact upon the environment
EcoVadis Silver Medal for Sustainability
The L&R Group has again achieved silver status in the 2022 EcoVadis sustainability ranking, an internationally recognised sustainability rating platform. This achievement is an important recognition of our sustainability measures and engagement. With a score of 59 points, L&R was able to improve on last year's result.
For the fourth year running the L&R Group have received the EcoVadis Silver rating for our commitment to sustainability. Our sustainability measures have enabled us to increase our overall score - bringing L&R among the top 25% of companies as assessed by ecovadis.
Customer Services cut printing by 75%
We have reduced the amount of printing involved with the invoicing for our direct to consumer sales by a simple internal process change.
Since this change we have reduced our printed invoices by 75% with customers now receiving an electronic confirmation of their purchase, with the exception of a printed invoice for customers who are unable to receive them electronically.
Local school plant 40 trees at L&R HQ
In September 2022 we started work on our sustainability woodland area which involved the planting of trees, and development of sustainable woodland areas for education and recreation. The area will be designed by local school children and will be the start of further planned co-operative work which will not only support local wildlife but also potentially provide a learning environment for some of our local schools.
Members of the executive board visited L&R UK as part of a business review and so we took the opportunity to ask them to plant the first trees in the planned woodland area.
L&R go paperless bank statements
In 2021 we made the switch from paper statements to paperless for all company credit cards.
This switch to digital statements allows us contribute to the reduction of paper waste and positively impact our environment.
Electric Charging Points
As part of our sustainability commitment at L&R UK we have expanded our electric vehicle charging capabilities at our head office with the addition of four new 4kW charging sockets.
With electric vehicles growing in popularity and demand, our new installation allows for our EV-driving. Allowing employees and visitors the convenience of charging at work and leaving the premises fully charged.
Sustainability Week 2022
Focusing on the green for one week, we encouraged employees and their family members to take actions throughout the week to reduce their impact on the environment - both personally and in the business.
Our outcomes:
General waste was reduced by 25% on average
Over 90 plant-based meals were prepared
Those who changed car journeys to walking, running or cycling saved 6.1 miles on average
64 bags of clothes were collected and donated to charity
Over 100 devices were turned off during the week that were usually kept plugged in
